Designing for the Next Billion Underprivileged Users

<
ОПИСАНИЕ
We have yet to design solutions, systems, products and services for the users we know less about; the illiterate and the underserved group of people around the world living below the so-called “poverty line”. Their needs, the ecosystem they connect with, the cultural/social norms they follow, their spending habits, things they value the most are topics of study in progress! IDEATE Innovation from Pakistan had the opportunity to immerse themselves a little closer to the pool of poorest women of Pakistan. They conducted a human-centered design study to find out a solution to a chronic problem of financial vulnerabilities in one of the world’s biggest social safety net programs in Pakistan. This massive grant disbursement program is focused on bridging Pakistan’s gender gap in financial inclusion. Currently, this program provides grants to approximately 5.4 million beneficiaries with an annual grant value of 860 million Euros. Let's utilize this 'knowledge sharing workshop' to understand and learn about the deep insights of this unique persona. This will be a great platform for you to contribute your ideas in the ideation workshop on how technology can be used to reduce the financial leakages in this massive grant program and how might we ensure that these women get their due share of the grant money. Who should attend? This workshop will be highly beneficial for practitioners of human-centered design, nonprofits, philanthropic foundations, government organizations, social entrepreneurs, stakeholders working on social impact programs or the ones who want to make a difference in someone's life then this workshop is for you! What to expect? This is going to be an engaging and immersive experience where you will learn about how Design Thinking works in the context of developing countries. Furthermore, you will get to learn how this methodology can be utilized in the context of solving challenges for the users who are at the bottom of the pyramid in the developing countries. The workshop will be divided into two different sections which are as follows: 1- First Section: We will look into the premise of Design Thinking and briefly discover how to successfully approach and solve difficult, multi-dimensional problems with respect to Design Thinking methodology. You will then be given a holistic overview of the project that IDEATE Innovation is currently working on, the aim of which is greater Financial Inclusion for the women under the poverty line of Pakistan. You will be given a visual walkthrough of the entire research phase of the project. 2- Second Section: will be an interactive brainstorming session to ideate ideas to the presented problems with limitations related to the project. The participants will work in groups to propose solutions to eliminate financial vulnerabilities in this massive grant distribution program. After this, field testing results will be presented as sort of a feedback to the proposed solutions in the workshop. Lastly, we will incorporate the field testing feedback to iterate on previously presented ideas. About the Facilitator Umair is the Chief Innovation Officer at IDEATE Innovation Pvt.
