Join us for an evening with the former corporate banker turned social entrepreneur David Griedelbach, who co-founded Quartiermeister four years ago.
Quartiermeister is a Berlin beer brand aimed at shaping the community by supporting local initiatives. 100% of its profits are used to fund projects in the neighbourhoods of Berlin, Munich, Leipzig and Dresden. This is the first beer company where the consumer can drink beer while doing something good for the community - and can even decide where the money goes by voting for community projects online. Whether its German courses for refugees, anti-fascist festivals, or homeless cafés, the money flows to projects decided by the consumers.
But don't think this is just another small, social project - David knows all about explosive growth in startups. In its first quarter of 2012, Quartiermeister sold 5,000 litres of beer. In 2015, 45,000 litres of beer were sold - and in 2017, David and his company sold 350,000 litres of beer. This translates to over 30 local initiatives being funded by Quartiermeister - all by the community, for the community.
