Order tickets via Eventbrite: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/an-intro-to-impro-tickets-18361917991?aff=efbevent This evening is a taster session for a unique six-week introductory course focussing on helping social entrepreneurs to write and perform stand up comedy - while using the practice of improvisation to help cultivate: - playfulness and creativity in crafting your material - confidence and ease on stage, and -generosity and connection with your audience No experience necessary for either stand up or improvisation. We are looking for people who want to be funny, smart, and nice on stage - and who have an interest in exploring the funny, human aspects of the big issues facing humanity. If you like to make your friends laugh and are curious about doing stand-up comedy - this is a great course for you. In the taster evening we will: - Experience how to create a safe space for each other to take risks - Explore three powerful interactive processes to highlight potential focusses for your material - Practice accepting and building on each other’s' ideas - Be introduced to two specific ways that the practice of improvisation can help you be a more engaging presenter In the six week course we will: -support each person to develop his/her own 5 minute set of stand up material -practice connecting with the audience in delightful, powerful and generous ways -introduce good mic and presentation techniques -explore positive ways to deal with failure and the unexpected -showcase everyone in a show Belina Raffy took her first amateur stand up class in New York City in 1996. She performed in NY, Baltimore and London. She also studied at the Loose Moose International Improvisation Summer School. She’s a consultant with an MBA, and spends most of her time teaching business people improvisation skills. Belina is also founder of Sustainable Stand Up - a global initiative to invite stand up comics to write great, leading edge material on sustainability issues. www.sustainablestandup.com
