Legal Advice for Social Organizations

TrustLaw is the Thomson Reuters Foundation's global pro bono service which connects non-profits and social enterprises to top law firms around the world to provide them with free legal support. TrustLaw developed a Legal Health Check to help community organisations and social enterprises understand and prioritise their legal needs, allowing staff and volutneers to devote more time to fulfilling the organisation’s social mission. At this free and interactive workshop, a TrustLaw lawyer will guide organisations through the Legal Health Check, giving practical examples of some of the main legal issues organisations should be considering to ensure they are adequately protected. The checklist covers a range of legal topics, including corporate structuring and governance advice, commercial contracts, how to protect intellectual property, data protection requirements, websites and media, finance and fundraising regulations.
