OpenIDEO Expert Workshop @ Impact Hub Berlin

OpenIDEO launched a global challenge: Fighting Ebola Ebola is a global crisis that affects us all. Whether you've been casually following the outbreak from afar or you're on the front-lines fighting the disease, your perspective matters. Now it‘s time for you to get active. Impact Hub Berlin is hosting the OpenIDEO workshop on: How Might we Strengthen Health Care Capacities. We have invited three experts with field experience working with Ebola: Matthias Bischoff, Timon Marszalek, and Carolyn Whitten. They will fill us in on the latest developments and challenges in the regions. Afterwards we will go through a design thinking process to share stories and design solutions. Let‘s make a contribution and generate actionable solutions to the Ebola epidemic! WHAT CHALLENGE WILL WE SOLVE? „Strengthen Health Care Capacities“ – How might we enhance the protective equipment, care setting and tools in the field to empower and protect healthcare workers? OUR EXPERTS: Matthias Bischoff – Matthias is a political scientist and trained police officer. He manages humanitarian emergency projects and has field experience in West and Central Africa. He was responsible for the administration of the construction of the Ebola isolation site in Kailahun, Sierra Leone. Timon Marszalek – Timon is a disaster management professional with technical expertise and experience planning and implementing humanitarian programmes. He has field experience in Ebola virus disease logistics management and a strong commitment to finding ways to stop the spread of the epidemic. Carolyn Whitten – Carolyn is a people-oriented global health professional with experience coordinating humanitarian work and building logistical capacity in a number of contexts, including in an Ebola response. A trained group facilitator, she believes in the power of collective knowledge and ideas to help tackle the epidemic. WHAT TO EXPECT? Introduction (25 minutes): Welcome and Introduction Research (15 – 30 minutes): Experts share their knowledge Ideation (25 minutes): Teams start brainstorming Refinement (30 minutes): Get group feedback to selected team ideas Prototyping (40 minutes): Time to make the idea come alive Share (10 minutes): OpenIdeators will upload their ideas/prototypes WHEN, WHERE AND WHAT TIME? On Wednesday, 05.November we will start at 6:00pm SHARP. It will take place at the Impact Hub Berlin, Mittelweg 50, 12053 Berlin (3rd Floor of Agora).
