------------------------------------ SCIENCE HACK DAY BERLIN 2017 Final Hack Presentations 15:00, Sunday 19th November MAR Gebäude / TU Berlin all welcome, drinks at the bar ------------------------------------ It’s been over a year since we last saw Science Hack Day… It seems that it went to ground and has been secretly growing its network and gathering strength in the intervening months. We’ve found evidence of a giant mushroom growing under the TU and it is about to spread its spores of science jui-jui back all over Berlin. From 17th to 19th November we will gather 80 of the most creatively sciency scientists, artists, developers, designers and enthusiasts from Berlin and elsewhere to channel all this mycelial science power and release it the magical workshops TU Berlin's MAR Gebäude for an intense 48 hours of extreme collaboration. On Sunday 19th November you will have the chance to see the results of this brief, but intense period of collaboration. From 15:00 we will open the doors to all who didn't manage to join in on the actual Science Hack Day this year, or are simply curious to see what's been happening. All teams will present their weird, wonderful and sciency science hacks for friends, family, fans and a panel of expert judges. Prizes will be awarded for different categories including the audience favourite. The mission of Science Hack Day is to get excited and make things with science! A Hack Day is a 48-hour-all-night event that brings together designers, developers, scientists, artists and other enthusiasts in the same physical space for a brief but intense period of collaboration, hacking, and building ‘cool stuff’. By collaborating on focused tasks during this short period, small groups of hackers are capable of producing remarkable results. What’s a Hack? A hack is a quick solution to a problem – maybe not the most elegant solution, but often the cleverest. Hacking is about understanding a system – be it an alarm clock, an establishment, or a fundamental law of nature – and cleverly tweaking it to improve, repurpose, or subvert it beyond its creator's original purpose. It can be ingeniously innovative, disruptive, or critical.
