How much design is enough at different stages of your product lifecycle?
Primoz, Janze and Danijela come from Slovenia with more than 10 years of experience. They lead the design team at D.labs startup agency helping startup founders get their digital products off the ground. In their regular practices, they research users, ensure that there is a good product to market fit, conceptualize product, validate ideas and run usability tests. They are user and data driven. The core of their experience lays in working with early startup founders, looking for the first round capital. The experience ranges in products and services across a variety of domains, including online learning, biotech, advertising, fashion, online marketplaces and entertainment, medical apps, etc.
The focus of this session is to help better define how much design is needed when...! The common struggle with early startup founders is to decide how much design they need at different stages of the product lifecycle. Often entrepreneurs burn too much money upfront on logo design, product name, visual design, which is better handled later in the product cycle. In this session we will present to you a guideline, a metrics of different product stages and an idea how to approach design solutes for those stages. The matrix will also include different product industries that vary in design need. There is a different design to consider when thinking about the prototype, MVP, MMP, etc. just as well as Game app, Saas app, or Productivity app.
