Startup Weekend Kyiv - Nov 18-20

Techstars and America House are pleased to invite you to Startup Weekend Kyiv where you will take your idea, vet it and see if it is ready to be presented to the world. It starts with an elevator pitch of an initial business idea, forming teams, business plan development, market validation, and finishing with formal presentations to a team of judges. Participants will come away with more confidence, competence, contacts and having had a lot of fun! We will host 70 people who want a fast, informative, interactive learning experience about what it is like to be inspired by a business idea, and what it takes to vet the idea, build the plan and pitch the idea for funding. Anyone with an idea can apply. You need to be ready to pitch your idea & if your idea is selected, to lead the team! If your idea is not selected, you need to be ready to join a team and take part in building the virtual business. This is highly interactive weekend – everyone’s participation matters! Not everyone who attends must pitch an idea, but we encourage it as it’s a great experience and invaluable practice for public speaking. All attendees have the chance to stand up on Friday night and present an elevator pitch of their idea for consideration. Each person will have 60 seconds to persuade other attendees to join their team. Each needs to make their pitch clear, concise, and convincing. Once you are notified on your acceptance, we will send more details on how to be prepared for your initial pitch. Please note that no existing businesses can be pitched – this is not a process to expand a business already in operation! While there are no specific requirements in terms of what teams should have accomplished by Sunday, it’s best to plan the execution around what they’ll be judged for on Sunday: -Customer Validation (did you vet the business?) -Execution and Design (what did you build – even if it is on paper?) -Business Model (do you have a plan for the future & will it make money?)
