TechHub Riga Meetup: Fundamentals of Writing A Pitch

<
ОПИСАНИЕ
You are invited to the very cool and amazing TechHub's monthly meetup. 🎉🎉🎉 As we're getting ready for TechChill, the biggest startup event in the Baltics that will bring almost 100 global investors to the city, startups are busy honing their pitch, mastering their networking skills and getting ready to make new connections. To help them lay the groundwork and make the most of it, master storyteller Gleb Maltsev from Fundwise will be coming over to Riga with a masterclass in pitching & storytelling. KEYNOTE Fundamentals of Writing A Pitch ABOUT THE SPEAKER Gleb Maltsev listens to around 900 speeches a year ranging from a 60-second pitch to a 45-minute keynote. He’s trained presenters for industry-wide pitching showcases such as Slush, Latitude59, TechChill and LOGIN. He’s the co-founder of Fundwise, a founder-to-investor pitching platform with a 72% success rate and raising over 889K EUR for over a dozen projects. Every year he works with executives from almost every industry that would make the world a bit better, or at least have a shot at doing so. Around a 100 of those execs have gone on to pitch at trade fairs such as the Mobile World Congress, Smart City Expo, conhIT, boot Düsseldorf, Bygg Reis Deg, or BAU. About the hands-on keynote There are 2 key elements to pitching, or speaking. One is content, and the other is how you deliver it. To deliver a talk you need to write it out first. Pitching — unless you’ve been doing it for some time — is not improv. You might get a polite applause by winging it, but it won’t raise a round. A pitch needs at least 30–90 hours of work before being effectively delivered on stage. Much of it is writing drafts and testing them out in front of an audience. The ever-succinct Ernest Hemingway was once aptly quoted by his writing protégé Arnold Samuelson — “The first draft of anything is shit.” Other highly important stuff at the event: - community announcements, - open microphone, - free beer and kvass. If you are really longing to share something with others (that is at least remotely related to tech and startups) send your talent pitch/announcement request to lina.sarma@techhub.com. This meetup is supported by Lattelecom. Cheers! TechHub Riga Team
