ОПИСАНИЕ
In the midst of all this turmoil and knowing whats what, we thought it would be a great idea to take a brief moment and dive in to the technologies and practices used for dealing with fake news. During the evening we will have the following three speakers that will share their experiences and techniques that they have used when tackling this:
Jānis Polis is a marketing pro who also runs a blog exposing online propaganda activities in Latvia. In the last 18 months he's both made a bunch of enemies among Latvian politicians and also become a "must meet" guy for any visiting US politician. All that - on the back of just 6 blog posts.
He will be speaking on the “Soft Power of a Free Haircut”.
Nika Aleksejeva is a digital investigator at NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence who is currently working on the @DFRLab project. Based on real life examples she will be speaking about certain methods and technologies, that she has used while she was following up with the events of Russian-Belarusian military training Zapad during the autumn of 2017.
Mārtiņš Vaivars is the CEO of Toneboard (Techstars London '17), a voice analytics company working on applications in financial services and security. He has co-founded QUO tu domā, an NGO promoting the culture of debating and critical thinking in Latvia, and is also now working with Re:Baltica on a Google-funded project that will address misinformation in Baltics (stay tuned). Mārtiņš will be speaking about using AI and other methods for tackling fake news at scale and why this is a more messy and complex problem than he realised at first.
