Workshop: Creating Game of Life with JavaScript

We have prepared for you brand new workshop - and this time it's for those of you who were eager for the challenge! It's our first workshop which requires basic programming skills. What we'll do: Game of life we'll be creating is a self-evolving game on a two-dimensional grid that models the idea of evolution. We can experience the evolution of basic and primitive structures to more complex ones and also how very complex structures can vanish quickly. Each cell of the grid can be either alive or dead. The game starts with a few alive cells (seeding) and then the grid evolves step by step (producing new generations). There are four basic rules and the next status of each cell is determined by the number of alive neighbor cells. Target group: Any interested girl/woman older than 16 years old. Event language: English. ❗️Prerequisites: - Basic programming skills in JavaScript. You can*: --- define variable --- write "for" loop --- write conditional - "if/else" --- write and use functions --- define and use arrays and 2-dimensional arrays - HTML basics * if you know all those things well in another programming language, you still can apply. 👨🏻‍💻Workshop lead is Abuzer Yakaryilmaz from Center for Quantum Computing Center, University of Latvia. 🍕We will have a short lunch break with pizzas but you are more than welcomed to bring snacks for you or everyone! :) Our partner for this event is Faculty of Computing, University of Latvia
